The Naib Saini government of Haryana has made significant changes in the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Basti scheme launched for the poor and economically weaker sections. This change has created an atmosphere of discussion among the villagers. Earlier, 100-100 yards plots were given free of cost to poor families under this scheme, but now the beneficiaries will have to pay the price of these plots in installments. This decision is part of the government’s second phase of expansion, which aims to provide housing facilities to more and more people, as well as to organize the scheme. Let us understand every aspect of this change in detail.
New form of plan: Payment in installments
The Mahatma Gandhi Gram Basti Yojana was started in 2009 by the then Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda. The purpose of this scheme was to improve their standard of living by giving free plots on panchayati land to the economically weaker, backward classes and scheduled castes.
But now the government has made changes to make this scheme more comprehensive. Under the new rules, the beneficiaries will have to pay the price of the plot in the installments to the Haryana Housing Department. This change can be a relief for those who are unable to give a lump sum.
Who can apply?
According to the new rules, only those people can apply for this scheme, whose annual income is less than Rs 1.80 lakh. This condition ensures that the benefits of the scheme really reach the needy people. This time the Haryana Housing Department has decided to buy the panchayati land on the basis of the circle rate of the village.
Subsequently, the department will provide basic facilities like roads, electricity, water, sewerage and paved streets in the villages. Plots of 100-100 yards will be allocated in the areas prepared with these facilities.
Application process
To make the process of plot allocation transparent and organized, the government has implemented the approval process at several levels. First, the applicant will have to get approval from the village level committee. After this, the block level committee will check the application, and in the end the committee headed by the District Councilor will give final approval. Full details of applications will be available online to make this process more easy. This will ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the right people and there is no irregularity.
In which villages will the scheme be implemented?
The Haryana government has chosen several villages in Faridabad district under this scheme. These include villages like Fatehpur Taga, Tikri Kheda, Dhauj, Khori Jamalpur, Pakkhal, Patwa, Sarurpur, Sirohi, Tajpur, Imamuddinpur of Tigaon, Ahmedpur, Chhayasa, Hirapur, Nariala, Prahladpur Majra Dig, Dayalpur, Paala, Sagarpur, Shahpur Kalan, Sikrauna and Gadkhera. The process of plot allocation will begin only after developing infrastructure in these villages.
Purpose and influence of change
The purpose of this change is not only to bring the plan to more people, but also make it financially self -sufficient. The convenience of payment in installments will not bear the burden of lump sum expense on poor families, and they will be able to easily build their dreams. Also, the development of basic facilities by the Haryana Housing Department will improve the standard of living in rural areas. This plan is a golden opportunity for those who have been dreaming of their home for a long time.
