GB News viewers were left furious as the breakfast programme discussed President Donald Trump's response in the wake of the tragic Washington D.C. shooting. On Wednesday (November 26), two members of the National Guard were shot at close range, and police have since arrested one suspect, Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, who arrived in the US in 2021. However, in a statement, Trump confirmed that victim Sarah Beckstrom, 20, had died from her injuries in the hospital and revealed that Andrew Wolfe, 24, "is fighting for his life".
In response to the devastating incident, the US leader has ordered a widespread review of asylum cases approved under former President Joe Biden's administration and Green Cards issued to citizens of 19 countries. He also announced that his administration will "permanently pause" migration from all "Third World Countries". Although details of the countries remain unclear, Senior Political Commentator Nigel Nelson appeared on GB News and called the move "a bit of a knee-jerk," which left viewers angered as one fumed: "I think it's perfect response personally. The world (West) would be a much safer place had we all adopted this approach years ago." As another agreed: "We need more 'knee jerk' in the UK too."
"It's the mark of a strong leader, putting his citizens first, something we could only dream of," remarked another.
As a fourth questioned: "What sort of a response should a leader give when his law enforcement officers and citizens are being murdered by foreign terrorists?"
Another viewer added: "That is why the UK is in the state it is in and why it will ultimately be destroyed. You can see an obvious, existential problem, and you don't want to offend anyone with a robust challenge to it."
"These f******g libtards are a joke, think Americans should pay for foreigners because what else do you do with them? Clown," raged a sixth.
During the GB News programme, Nigel said: "Sarah Beckstrom's death is an absolute tragedy, and there's no question about that, and certainly there has to be some kind of response to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"But this one does feel a bit knee-jerk, and I do want to know quite what it'll achieve. One of the things he's [Trump] talking about is taking away federal benefits from non-citizens. Does that leave them destitute? What do you do with them?"
He continued: "It is a very vague kind of plan, but it feels like something he always wanted to do at some stage."
To which political commentator Claire Pearsall added: "But he's also going to look at the green cards that have been issued previously to what he considers to be people of countries of concern, but he hasn't listed what they are, and you can see that this is all likely to fall apart.
"There's nothing wrong with wanting to ensure that terrible acts like that don't happen again, but to try and have a blanket ban on practically every country that you just don't like isn't going to work practically."
