At the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) office in Sri Sathya Sai district, Community Health Officers (CHOs) employed by the National Health Mission (NHM) have continued their indefinite peaceful protest for the second day, calling for the settlement of long-standing employment and salary disputes. After two years of service, the CHOs voiced their dissatisfaction with ongoing salary-related issues.
They urged the administration to take action on their well-founded requests while sitting on their knees before the DM&HO office as part of their protest. A 23% raise to equal that of other NHM workers, monthly incentives in addition to regular salary, an annual 5% raise, regularization of CHOs who have served for more than six years, and a thorough settlement of both financial and non-financial problems are among their main requests.
The CHOs who are demonstrating have said that they would not stop their nonviolent agitation until their demands are met and the relevant authorities provide an appropriate guarantee.
