Around 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday, a huge fire broke out in Gurugram’s Sector 102 slums and trash area, destroying dozens of huts and displacing numerous families, according to fire authorities.
A number of slum houses were reduced to ashes and their contents destroyed as the fire advanced quickly.
Fire engines from Pataudi, Sector 29, Sector 37 (Udyog Vihar), and Bhim Nagar were sent to the scene immediately. Before the fire could spread to other communities, firefighters were able to confine it.
About 40 to 50 of the 150 cottages that were in the vicinity were destroyed. Fire Officer Narender said that around ten fire engines were sent out and that the fire was contained by seven in the morning.
Although there have been no reports of injuries, the fire officer said that the dense smoke and intense flames caused fear in the surrounding region.
Although the exact origin of the fire has not been determined, preliminary inquiry indicates that it could have begun when someone was in one of the huts brewing tea.
“At 3.50 a.m., we got a call about the fire. Within ten minutes, the fire department arrived at the location. The number of cottages was 150. 40 to 50 of them were burned. To contain the fire, around ten trucks were sent from the Pataudi, Bhim Nagar, and Sector 37 fire stations, said to Fire Officer Narender.
According to reports, a number of little cooking gas cylinders burst during the fire, making it worse. Between 400 and 450 residents of the slum were safely removed. Throughout the morning, rescue and cooling efforts continued.
A firefighter stayed on the scene as a precaution since smoke was still billowing from the junk and debris. After the fire is completely out, a thorough search will be carried out, according to authorities.
