Income tax return filing deadline: Those reports have been rejected by the Income Tax (IT) department, which claimed to extend the last date of ITR filing to 30 September. Last date extended to 15 September from 31 July

In May, the Income Tax Department had announced to extend the last date for filing ITR from 31 July to 15 September by those persons, Hindu undivided families (HUFs) and institutions for the year 2025-26 (for income earned in FY 2024-25), from July 31 to September 15, which do not have to audit their accounts. So far more than six crore income tax returns (ITRs) have been filed for the assessment year 2025-26.
