Recently a devotee asked him a question which often arises in the minds of people involved in meat and fish trade. To which Premanand Maharaj gave a very simple but deeply explained answer, after listening to which all the devotees got a new knowledge.
The devotee asked Premanand Maharaj
“Maharaj, I wake up every morning and chant the name of Radha but sometimes my mind becomes disturbed. The reason is that my business is related to meat and fish. I do not eat meat and fish myself, but sell it. Will this hinder the attainment of God?”
Premanand Maharaj's answer
Explaining in very simple words, Premanand Maharaj said that if your business is related to killing animals then you will have to suffer the consequences of it. Just saying that you do not eat meat and fish is not enough. He said-
“Is killing only the business left in the world? Other jobs can be done as well.”
Total tradition and business
Maharaj further said that if someone is born in a family whose tradition is meat-fish trade, then it is good that still the feeling of satsang and bhajan has awakened within him. It is the effect of devotion that you are feeling doubtful and uneasy about your work.

Premanand Maharaj advised that if possible this business should be abandoned. He said-
“Whatever wrong you are doing is eating away at your mind. It is because of the effect of Bhajan that you are now finding it unbearable. There can never be peace in the business of killing animals.”
Concern about raising a family
Often this question comes in people's mind that if they leave the business then how will the family be supported. On this the Maharaj explained, “Don't worry, God has taken care of 84 lakh species, He will take care of you too.”
Labor is also the best option
Premanand Maharaj also said that if you are unhappy with your current business, you can support your family by working as a labourer. "You may have to face difficulties for four days, but your mind will remain at peace. Peace is real happiness."
