New Delhi . The record-breaking earnings of Dhurandhar have been in the news for a long time and now the debate on the budget of its second part, Dhurandhar 2, The Revenge, has intensified. The film is going to be released on March 19 and there are talks of its clash with Yash’s Toxic on the same day. Meanwhile, different claims are emerging regarding the expenditure of the film which has confused the audience.
In some reports it is being said that the budget of Dhurandhar 2 is around Rs 250 crores while some trade experts are calling it a zero budget film. The question is why so many contradictory figures are coming out regarding the same film.
Actually, from the very beginning there was news about Dhurandhar that Aditya Dhar had shot it together. It was told that the total length of the film was about seven hours, which was later decided to be released in two parts. The first part was released on 5th December and the second part is reaching theaters in a gap of just a few months on 19th March. Many scenes of the second part were already shown in the end credit scene, which clearly shows that the main shoot was already completed.
According to trade reports, the shooting of the entire film cost around Rs 225 to 280 crores. That means this cost was already included in Part One. In such a situation, there was no cost of producing the film again on Dhurandhar 2. This is the reason why many people are calling the second part a zero budget film.
However, some trade experts are also estimating the budget of Dhurandhar 2 to be Rs 250 crores. The reason for this is believed to be that after the tremendous success of Part One, there was pressure on the makers to make the second part more grand. For this reason, some new scenes were added, some new characters were included and huge expenditure was made on post production and VFX. Apart from this, promotion expenses are also being added to the budget of Part Two.
Most importantly, the major cost of Dhurandhar 2 has already been covered from OTT and music rights. According to reports, Jio Hotstar has bought the digital rights of Dhurandhar The Revenge for around Rs 150 crore. Netflix had given approximately Rs 85 crore for the first part. T Series has acquired the music rights of the second part for Rs 50 to 60 crores.
Dhurandhar Part One has already earned more than Rs 1347 crore worldwide. In such a situation, the trade circle believes that the landing cost of the second part has already been covered and now every ticket sold in theaters will add direct profit. Due to this logic, Dhurandhar 2 is being called a zero budget film.

This is the reason why despite the clash with a big film like Toxic, Dhurandhar 2 is not considered to be in any big financial risk. The story and visual treatment of the film has already attracted the audience and now all eyes are on what new record it will create at the box office after its release.
