Tension around Don 3 has been going on for a while, and it looks like that won’t change anytime soon. New reports indicate that Ranveer Singh has some serious concerns about how the project was handled and that he even spoke to the production team about the issues. The movie has been in the pipeline for almost two years, with Farhan Akhtar announcing his comeback to direction with the third installment of the iconic franchise. The film now looks like it is in limbo, with the disagreements between the lead actor and the production house being made public.

A report by Bollywood Hungama has revealed the alleged scenario behind the scenes. It says that the subject was discussed at two meetings of the Producers Guild of India that brought together quite a few senior personalities from the film industry. These meetings purportedly tried to hear both sides of the story and also tackle the problem of actors leaving movies after great pre-production work.

It is said that the second meeting’s discussion started with a presentation of Ranveer’s version by his side. According to the article, the actor blamed Excel Entertainment for being unprofessional and not really interested in going ahead with Don 3. Moreover, he supposedly claimed that there had never been a proper script and that he only works when the script is finalized. Ranveer reportedly also lamented the lack of inventive progress and said it had been almost three years of uncertainty without any signs of the project moving forward, as Farhan was engaged with other projects.
However, on the other hand, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are said to have denied these allegations. According to the reports, they have stated that Ranveer was always in the know at every stage and had given the green light to the various script drafts that were shared with him. The production house has allegedly informed the Guild that even though they had agreed to a number of Ranveer’s requests, the actor’s exit resulted in big financial losses for them.

When Don 3 was first announced, the makers stated that Shah Rukh Khan would not be the lead this time. On the other hand, Ranveer Singh was presented as the new Don, which marked a big change for the franchise. Unfortunately, the announcement wasn’t well-received online. The project was met with negativity right from the start, criticism over recasting, and doubts about the film’s future.
After the huge success of Ranveer’s film Dhurandhar, reports say that the situation went downhill. It is said that Ranveer decided to leave Don 3, which then caused the shooting to be stopped.
Adding fuel to the fire, it was even stated that Farhan Akhtar, along with his production co-partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, has sent a notice seeking approximately Rs 40 crore, accusing Ranveer’s departure of causing them loss.
Ranveer Singh is presently busy with the final schedule of Dhurandhar 2 and is likely to start the shoot of Pralay thereafter. On the other hand, Farhan Akhtar, as per the news, might be going back over Jee Le Zaraa, a grand project which is still on the shelf, that he has been mulling over for quite some time now with Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles.
