Luke Humphries struggled to hide his emotion following his dramatic defeat to Luke Littler in the Premier League on Thursday night. Week two of the competition was taking place in Antwerp, for what was the Premier League's first-ever visit to Belgium.
The fans inside the AFAS Dome were treated to a spectacle in the night's opening match, when Littler fought back from 4-1 down to force a deciding leg against the world No.2. Humphries had been in complete control of the contest before losing three legs on the spin, and despite holding his throw to make it 5-4 in his favour, Littler won the 10th leg to force the decider.
Littler stormed ahead in the leg, but left the door open for Humphries when he missed match darts. However, Humphries was unable to capitalise, firstly coming inside the wire on double 20, prior to just missing the double 10 segment with his next dart.

Sensing his opportunity had come and gone, Humphries showed his frustration while retrieving his darts from the board by stomping his foot down on the oche. It's a rare outburst for Cool Hand, who is known for his composed demeanour on stage, but it goes to show that the pressure of Premier League darts can get to anyone.
It's a result that leaves Humphries with work to do in future weeks, but it's a welcome return to winning ways for Littler, who lost in his opening match last week. Littler was put to the sword against World Championship runner-up Gian van Veen, just weeks after the pair faced off in the Ally Pally showpiece.
There have been suggestions that Van Veen could replace Humphries as Littler's biggest rival, something the Dutchman was quizzed on following last week's Premier League action. He explained: "Almost a perfect start. Looking at the fixtures and playing Luke Littler in the first game, my goal was just to win that game and then I had a successful night.
"That happened and then I won the semi-final, but looking back at the final [against Michael van Gerwen] I just wasn't up to par. I'm looking to do better, but to make a final on my debut I won't complain. The most important part is to win your first game, especially playing in this for the first time. You don't want to be spending three or four weeks not winning any games - then it starts getting to you. I think that was the most important part."
