Dee Hsu, the younger sister of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has dismissed reports that her brother-in-law, South Korean musician DJ Koo, filed a legal claim to inherit his late wife’s estate.

Speaking to Taiwanese media on Feb. 10, Dee Hsu dismissed the reports as “untrue”.
“Anyone spreading this rumor has malicious intent,” she said. “My brother-in-law gave my sister pure love and true happiness. Our family is very grateful to him. DJ Koo is part of our family. We will protect him, not harm him.”
The sisters’ mother Huang Chunmei also defended her son-in-law, denying reports of any legal dispute between the family and DJ Koo.
“I hate lawsuits. They only waste everyone’s time and money,” she said. “I now call DJ Koo my son. He loved my daughter deeply and respected me. I care about him very much as well.”
Earlier, several Taiwanese media outlets reported that DJ Koo was preparing for a legal battle with Huang over his late wife’s estate. Other sources claimed Huang was angry and had hired a lawyer to protect her interests.
Addressing the speculation previously, DJ Koo said he was enduring profound grief.
“What my wife left behind was the result of her hard work and was meant to protect the family she loved throughout her life. Therefore, I intend to transfer all rights to my share to her mother,” he said.
Hsu, best known for her roles in the television dramas “Meteor Garden,” “Mars and Summer’s Desire,” died last year in Japan at the age of 49 due to pneumonia- complications.
She married 57-year-old DJ Koo, born Koo Jun Yup, in February 2022 following her 2021 divorce from businessman Wang Xiaofei, 45.
