Bengaluru: Police from the HSR Layout Police Station rescued a newborn baby that had been left on the roadside in HSR Layout in Bengaluru.


According to police, the incident came to light on March 12 at around 10.30 pm near a school in the 5th Sector of HSR Layout. A member of the public noticed the newborn lying by the roadside and immediately called the police emergency helpline 112 to report the situation.


The information was passed to the patrol team from HSR Layout police station. Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar and Assistant Constable Channappa, who were on duty in a Hoysala patrol vehicle, rushed to the spot within minutes.


After reaching the location, the police found the newborn and rescued the baby safely with the help of Woman Constable Priyanka. The child was then taken to Indira Gandhi Hospital for medical treatment.


Police said the identity and whereabouts of the baby’s parents are not yet known. Further investigation into the incident is under way.
