Bhatkal: A 27-year-old youth from Odisha has gone missing after allegedly slipping and falling into the sea while heading out for a fishing trip at Alekodi port in Bhatkal.

The missing person has been identified as Jairam Biraganti (27), a resident of Sundargarh district in Odisha.

The incident was reported at around 8 pm on Tuesday.

According to police, Jairam was working on the fishing vessel “Sri Mookambika Boat,” owned by Janabai.

He reportedly slipped accidentally while boarding the boat for fishing operations and fell into the sea.

A search operation was launched immediately after the incident, but he could not be traced.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and investigation is under way.
