Lado Protsahan Yojana: The Rajasthan government is running a scheme aimed at promoting the education and advancement of daughters. The financial assistance provided under this scheme has recently been increased. This initiative is nothing short of a gift for parents.
Rajasthan has historically been perceived as a region lagging significantly behind when it comes to the welfare of daughters. With the objective of changing this mindset, the government launched a new scheme in 2024 titled the ‘Lado Protsahan Yojana’ (Daughter Encouragement Scheme). Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance to parents to support the upbringing of a daughter upon her birth. Now, nearly two years later, the government has increased the financial outlay for this scheme, creating an atmosphere of joy among parents.
Assistance Amount Increased by ₹50,000
The ‘Lado Protsahan Yojana’ was launched in August 2024. Under this scheme, the financial assistance provided for the upbringing of girl children has been increased from a range of ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh. The benefits of this increased amount will be disbursed starting from the current academic session itself. The Education Department has issued strict directives to ensure 100% implementation of this initiative. Under this scheme, the government will disburse a total of ₹1.5 lakh in seven installments. All these benefits will be transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account via online mode.
How to Apply?
The benefits of the ‘Lado Protsahan Yojana’ are available exclusively to parents who have recently welcomed a daughter into their family. This assistance is applicable to girl children born in government medical institutions or in private medical institutions authorized under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (Maternity Protection Scheme). Applications for this scheme must be submitted offline; furthermore, please note that the application process is entirely free of cost. If anyone attempts to solicit money or demand a fee from you in the name of this scheme, you should firmly refuse them.
Mother’s Eligibility is Mandatory
To apply for this scheme, it is mandatory for the daughter’s mother to be a domicile (permanent resident) of Rajasthan. The first installment of the assistance will be disbursed immediately upon the birth of the daughter, followed by the second installment a few months later. The third installment will be released once the daughter is enrolled in Class 1. Furthermore, the pending installments of the previous Rajshree Scheme have now been integrated into this scheme. A separate application will not be required for the third through sixth installments; payments will be disbursed through the Shala Darpan portal.
