Quick action of Secret Service, major accident averted

As the suspect tried to advance toward the checkpoint, the Secret Service and local law enforcement agencies responded immediately. There was firing during the encounter, in which one agent was hit by a bullet in his bulletproof jacket, but he survived. He has been admitted to the hospital and his condition is said to be stable.
