During the Mahabharata period, when the Pandavas reached Pandupol during their stay, they did not find any way to move forward. Then Bhima made a path on the mountain by hitting his mace. There is a temple one kilometer away from there, in which the idol of Hanuman ji is lying. It is believed that when Bhima became proud of his strength, Hanuman ji was found lying on the road in the guise of an old monkey. When Bhima, in arrogance, asked to remove the tail, Hanuman ji said that you yourself should remove it. Despite all his efforts, Bhima could not move his tail and make way for him to move forward. After seeing Hanuman ji, Bhima realized his mistake and bowed to Hanuman ji. Hanumanji forgave Bhima and blessed him.

Pandupol Hanuman Temple is in the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district. It is believed that the Pandavas spent some years of their lives in Pandupol during their exile. This Pandupol was the place where Lord Hanuman defeated Bhima and curbed his pride. Pandupol Hanuman Temple is one of the wonderful places in Alwar for pilgrims as well as nature and wildlife lovers.
