New Delhi. Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, has invited SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to come to Dhaka and start Starlink Satellite Internet service in the country. He wrote a letter to Musk that this service will be very beneficial for the youth, entrepreneurs and people living in remote areas of Bangladesh.
According to media reports, Younus said in the letter that Starlink's internet service will improve the infrastructure of Bangladesh. Especially rural areas, weak women and disadvantaged communities will get the most benefit. Yunus has instructed its high representative Khalilur Rahman to prepare to start Starlink service in Bangladesh within 90 days with the SpaceX team.
According to the report, Younis and Musk had a phone conversation last week. During this, Starlink launch and future prospects were discussed. Musk expressed curiosity, saying, “I am waiting for it.”
The US has recently discontinued financial assistance provided under USAID. Earlier Bangladesh used to get millions of dollars from it, some part of which was given to protect Rohingya refugees and democracy. Now the closure of this assistance has created an economic crisis for Yunus and his supporters. If Starlink service is launched in Bangladesh, it will rapidly increase internet connectivity in the country and will strengthen digital development.
